Once one of Venezuela's most important ports, Adicora is located in the
eastern coast of the peninsula of Paraguana, which is in the northern most
tip of Venezuela. Its proximity to the Dutch islands of Aruba, Bonaire and
Curacao gives this tiny town a touch of Dutch colonial heritage still seen
today. Its Location on the Caribbean coast gives Adicora the warm waters
and strong trade winds that also have made it an ideal destination for wind
surfers and kite surfers.

Adicora's location also gives it access to many other great attractions. There
are also other beaches nearby. In addition, there are also numerous other
towns in that area, each with its own unique identity.

Not an even an hour drive is the city of Coro, the oldest Spanish Colonial
town in the Americas and declared as Cultural World Heritage by the United
Nations. This city boasts interesting museums, Churches and monuments
with rich historic and cultural value. Also here the Dutch colonial influence is
evident. Check out the links at the bottom of this page to learn more of what
Coro has to offer.

The dunes or 'Medanos' of Coro are without a doubt one of the state's most
recognizable natural attractions. It was declared as a national park in 1974
and comprises over 90,000 hectares of territory. The dessert like landscape
is a corridor of 5 kilometers in width and 30 Kilometers in length that
connects the peninsula of Paraguana to the mainland of Venezuela.

In this national park, on the highway towards Adicora lies the little chapel of
'Animas de Guasare' which was erected to honor the hundreds of people of
towns in Paraguana that perished attempting to cross the dunes to reach
Coro during the terrible drought that occurred in 1912.

In addition, there is also the mountainous area in this region. "La Sierra de
San Luis" features a great a variety of interesting towns rich in culture as
well as natural beauty. Due to the fertile nature of the area, farming has
been the lifeblood of this region for hundreds of years. With regions
reaching as high as 1500 meters, the climate is very different to the warm
and sunny weather in Adicora. Undisturbed, "La Sierra de San Luis" offers
unique flora and fauna within an hour of Coro.
